Mission Impossible: Mr. Rat

Hello Family!

How are you all doing? Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I know it will be a good one! I´m gonna be 21...whaaaat? I´m old..and I´m feeling it :)

So yes, we are all safe and sound after the storm. Not too much damage was done in the ward and the next morning it looked like nothing even happened, it didn´t even phase these people!! But its hotter and more humid than ever! And we just go with it...the weathers crazy here!

So I´m writing early today, because we´re going to be changing houses today. Our old house was so nasty!!! Cleaning the kitchen today made me sick! But I have a really funny story to tell you! So about 2 weeks ago my companion and I were sitting planning one night and all the sudden I see a HUGE RAT run from the chair into the spare room. You´ve got to be joking me were the only words that came out of my mouth! And my companion looks at me and starts screaming and jumps onto her chair. What do we do? What do we do? I HATE rats, I wasn´t about to do anything! But we had to think fast because I didn´t want that nasty vermin running around in my clothes in the other room. So we both gathered up enough courage to run to the door and shut it as fast as we could. And that's what we did, and it stayed there for 5 days. At night, when we would come home, I would hear it crying and it made me a little sad, but then I told myself to snap out of it, because that nasty creature was eating all of my cookies and making a mess all over the house...it needed to die! And after 5 days, I knew that it had died because the house started smelling a little funky. But we were too scared to open the door, afraid that it might jump out and bite us. So we sneaked around the side of the house and peered through the window and there it was dead as dead lying there on the floor! Pobre cito, but we know where it is and that its in a better place. But then there came another problem. How were we going to get the dang rat out of the house? So we went to a members house to ask for help, but her husband wasn´t going to be able to come until that night. Gross! So we went to the next house...nope. Finally we went to visit the cutest old lady and we told her the situation. And all the sudden she started yelling about the stupid rats that live here and get in the houses and kept saying that we were mice kidnappers...what? And she gave us lime to throw on top of it until the hermano could come that night. She bought us 2 kilos of lime for one rat! Later, we get to the house and we´re fighting over who is going to be the one to dump the lime on the rat. I lost and had to be brave, so I pulled my shirt over my nose and opened the door ever so slightly...and threw the bag of lime (2kilos) over the rat from 4 feet away. Lime went EVERYWHERE and there was a huge cloud of it...it looked like a nuclear bomb had gone off, and I went running and screaming slamming the door shut. Then that night the hermano came to clean it up, we cleaned the room and to this day that door stays shut. It was one of the top 10 scariest things of my life. I hate rats and be careful because they eat your cookies!

So as you can see the adventures never stop here in Mexico. But we´re enjoying our time and we pushing through the heat, rain, and rats! I love my mission and wouldn´t be anywhere else! So this week look out for rats and stay strong and keep the faith! And have a little extra fun on Thursday...its practically a holiday :) Love you!!!

With love,
Hermana Pasley

So there is a factory behind us, but there is one tower bigger than the rest and its always shooting out fire. We think it looks like Sauron from lord of the rings. This may be why we´re not having a lot of success lately!

I saw a real life Mariachi band!!!

We love our mission!!

I Love the Rainy Nights

Hi family!!

How are you all doing! It´s Monday again...can you believe it?? All is well in Minatitlan and the work is great! Me and Hermana Calva are having a lot of success together! She´s awesome!

So we had quite the adventure this week. Well...I can now say that I have lived through a hurricane! Ha and I´m not even lying! On Saturday, it was SO hot, but SO hot! And when it gets really hot like that it normally rains that night, so we were expecting rain...but we were not expecting the winds. We were outside washing dishes, and all the sudden wind started to blow but really hard, so we finished up quick and went inside. Then the rain came and winds got faster and faster until we couldn´t even see out of our window and then the power went out. Thats when I started singing "I love the rainy nights" :) It was a little spooky! Then all the sudden we hear a whole bunch of crashing above. Our neighbors who live above us have sheet metal for a roof and it started getting TORN OFF!!! What?!?! There was sheet metal flying all over the place. All around the house. 3 sheets landed in our back porch and one landed right in front of the window we were standing at and ripped the screen, blocking the door. So we were stuck in the house until the next day! The rain and wind lasted a good hour. It was crazy!!! The front room was filled with water, and we were without power for most the night but that was the only damage done. There also is no water in Minataitlan right now, so we´re all living off well water. That´s fun! They told us that on Saturday night we got the tail end of a hurricane, so I that is why I can say I survived a hurricane...even if it wasn´t really a hurricane! But it sure was crazy! I´ve never seen so much lightning and heard so much thunder!

This week has also been awesome! We found a SUPER prepared investigator who is ready to be baptised! In the first lesson, he brought up baptism. And in the second lesson he had a date! He is amazing! He´s had a hard life and looks a little scary. To be honest when we contacted him in the street, he scared me a little bit. But he is so humble and really wants to repent! He´s read a good part of the book of mormon in just one week and progressing so fast! We´re so grateful for the miracles we have seen this week. God is good. He is a God of miracles! With the whole theme of hurricanes, we have the goal to give our investigators and the members a rock foundation. So that when the rains come down and the floods come, they´re strong!! We hope to give them a rock solid foundation which of course is built on Christ!

I love my Savior and I know that he lives.

I hope you all have a good week and know how much I love you! Stay strong and keep the faith!

I will go, I will do, the things the Lord commands

Hello Family!

How are we all? Its been forever since we´ve talked!! :) So I´m not reallly sure what to say! But we´re just going to go with it! So not much has happened since last night, it only got hotter! Nothing new!

So this last week I was reading in 1 Nephi 17 and I loved the story of Nephi building the ship. (My goal this week is to be more like Nephi) The Lord tells him to go up to the mountain and pray. Nephi being perfectly obedient goes up and prays. On the mountain the Lord tells him to build a ship...and this is the best part...Nephi only asks where he can go to find the tools necessary to build the ship. HE DOESN´T EVEN DOUBT OR QUESTION!!! If God told me to build a ship, I would think I´d gone crazy! But I realized how little faith I really do have. There are so many times that I know that I receive revelation and I blow it off. Sometimes I´m too distracted or sometimes i just don´t want to do it, and blow it off thinking I´m crazy, because thats just ridiculous! So my goal this week is to be more like Nephi, when I get revelation, I´m not going to doubt or question anything. I´m just going to do it. I will go I will do the things the Lord command. I know the Lord provides a way, he wants me to obey!!

Just obey...you´ll be happy you did. Then wait the Lord to help you make the miracle. Think of what we could do if we just trusted the Lord a little bit more, if we quit questioning and doubting and just moved forward with faith!!

So stay strong and keep the faith!! I love you all and hope you all had a good Mother´s day!! Love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Touching Lives for Good.

Hi Family!!

How are we all doing?? Its almost Mother´s Day!! Woohoo!!! I get to see your pretty faces :) I´m so excited!!!!! Best day ever!!! :)

So yes we had a baptism this last Saturday :) It was s special baptism, with a special spirit. She was super prepared and I know that God led us to her. I´ve never had an investigator that pretty much invited herself to be baptised. In the first lesson she literally put a date for herself. She is awesome!! And to make it more special. On the day of her baptism, she told us that the day we contacted her on the street, she was praying for someone to help her find a way to repent. She said she had done something that she regretted a lot and wanted change. She wanted a way to make things right and when she met us, she knew we could help her. IS SHE NO SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mission is hard, but so worth it! You learn to love, but really love as the Savior loves. Man, I love the mission. The gospel is so true. It´s so true!!!!!!!!!!!! It touched peoples lives for good! Please share it! I know its scary, but do it and it will bless you so much! I feel at times I´m the investigator and I´m being converted in each lesson. I have learned so much in this mission, it has been the best decision of my life, and I´m so excited I get an extra month!!! The best 19 months of my life!

I hope you all have a great week and the women in my life know how much I love you guys! Mom, Grandmas, Aunts, cousins, friends and everyone in my life. You have all touched my life for good, and it has built me into who I am. I am eternally grateful for each and everyone of you! Remeber who you are, and your worth as a woman. Priceless.

Happy Mothers Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
